BRIMBLE HILL SCHOOL
Brimble Hill School is a primary special school for children aged 3 to 11, with severe or profound and multiple learning difficulties.
Brimble Hill School is committed to celebrate the success its children achieve by setting challenging learning goals that are relevant and prepare them to take an active part in the wider community.
Brimble Hill School currently has 114 children on roll across two sites.
CHURCHWARD SCHOOL
Churchward School is a secondary special free school for students aged 11 to 19, with Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC) and/or Social Communication Interaction Difficulties (SCID).
Churchward School provides life-changing opportunities for some of the most challenged young people in our community. With bespoke educational packages and highly specialised staff, Churchward equips students with the skills to enable them to make appropriate life choices, achieve their aspirations, build and maintain social relationships and accomplish excellent outcomes.
Churchward School currently has 91 students on roll across two sites.
THE CHALET SCHOOL
The Chalet School is a primary special school, for children aged 3 to 11, with complex learning difficulties. This includes children with an Autistic Spectrum Condition.
The school is made up of a close community of governors, school leaders, parent/ carers and staff. They work together to achieve the best outcomes for each and every child in their care by offering a bespoke curriculum that is personalised, creative and inclusive. The children are at the centre of every decision they make and they take great pride in celebrating their achievements and encouraging the families to take an active role in their child’s education and future life goals.
The Chalet School currently has 72 children on roll.
UPLANDS SCHOOL
Uplands School is a secondary special school for students aged 11 to 19, with severe (SLD) or profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD) and/or Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC). Students will often have additional complex needs.
Uplands School recognises and celebrates each student’s individuality, providing support and experiences to develop their knowledge and skills for the next stage of their lives. The curriculum is ambitious and personalised to ensure that each student receives the right support at the right time to enable them to mature, make progress and be able to communicate with those around them.
Uplands School currently has 155 students on roll.
HORIZONS COLLEGE
Horizons College is an exciting and unique provision in a specialist facility for young people aged 16 to 25 who have severe or profound multiple learning difficulties and or complex needs.
The College provides a holistic learning programme for young people which is challenging, relevant and fun to support individual progression and preparation for adulthood. It is specifically aimed at learners with a range of learning and physical disabilities including those with complex medical and therapeutic needs and/or sensory processing difficulties. Some may have additional complex social and behavioural related needs. The college offers lots of opportunities to learn and progress through a range of learning environments such as our farm, warehouse and retail provisions as well as through partnerships with local employers.
Horizons College currently has 76 learners on roll.
WESTLEA PRIMARY SCHOOL
Westlea Primary School is a vibrant mainstream primary school for children aged 3 to 11. In addition to the mainstream school, Westlea Primary School has a Special Resource Provision (SRP) for children who are physically disabled, a Special Educational Needs Unit for children with complex learning difficulties and a Nursery class for children aged 3 to 4. All of the SRP children are fully integrated into the mainstream school.
Westlea School strives to ensure that all of the children will be at the heart of every decision they make, so they are happy, safe and confident. All of the educational opportunities and experiences are relevant to the children’s needs both now and in the future.
Westlea Primary School currently has 289 children on roll (inclusive of the SRP and Unit).
BASIS
BASIS (Brunel Autism Support & Inclusion Services) is part of the Brunel Academies Trust and provides a range of services for Children and Young People (CYP) across Swindon. At BASIS we strive to include all CYP and to meet their often very individual needs with a creative and innovative approach.
BASIS has many different elements to its structure and includes a range of provisions for CYP from the age of three upwards. BASIS offers: –
- Registered Provisions – All Aboard Nursery and Comets
- Unregistered Alternative Provisions – Bespoke Packages, Links Key Stage 3/4/5 and Seedlings for Key Stage 1
- Traded Services – ARC (Autism Resource Centre) and Training and Consultancy Service
- Commissioned Services from the Local Authority – Swindon Autism Support Service and Specialist Outreach Service
Provisions that fall under BASIS include:
All Aboard Nursery – A specialist nursery setting for 3 and 4 year olds who may have a diagnosis of Autism or who are affected by SCID/SEND.
Comets – A small satellite provision of Brimble Hill Special Primary School who are accessing a full-time Early Year’s curriculum within a site at Headlands Grove, specifically adapted for children with an Autism diagnosis but who may also have other additional needs.
Seedlings – A nurturing Early Years environment for a small cohort of children with complex SEND needs who attend part time in conjunction with their mainstream school.
Links – A provision that provides a bespoke curriculum for a small group of secondary age students (Key Stages 3, 4 & 5).
Autism Resource Centre (ARC) – ARC offers an enhanced programme of social communication and therapeutic learning activities for pupils aged 4 to 19 and is largely delivered on sites away from the child’s school.
